Book Discussion and Craft

This program invites teens to bring and discuss any book they’re passionate about—whether it’s a recent read, a classic favorite, or a graphic novel. After a lively, inclusive discussion where everyone’s voice is valued, participants will personalize canvas book bags with fabric markers, paint, and other materials. This event encourages self-expression, builds community, and gives teens a practical, creative keepsake to support their love of reading.

Learning Objectives

  • Literacy & Communication:
    Practice articulating thoughts and opinions about books, and develop active listening and respectful discussion skills.

  • Critical Thinking:
    Analyze and reflect on themes, characters, and personal connections to literature.

    Foster a welcoming environment where teens connect over shared and diverse reading experiences.
